Tourmalines, a group of beautiful mineral gemstones that have diverse color variations and compositions, found all over the world.
Despite being the same gem, tourmalines can appear in various different colors such as the most common Green, Pink, Yellow, to the rare Paraiba Blue, Rubellites, and even Purple.
Formed with a Trigonal system, Tourmalines are considered Brittle (Mohs Scale of 7 to 7.5).
People have probably used tourmalines as a gem for centuries, but it isnt until the recent developments of modern mineralogy, where they were identified as some other stones such as ruby, sapphire, emerald, etc.
One of the biggest market for Tourmalines is China, and it dates as far back as the Era of The Late Chinese Dowager Empress Tz'u Hsi (1835 - 1908), where her favourites were the pink and red (rubellites) ones. Since then, Tourmalines are well loved by many all over the world.
